The DVM-8400 has 4 different types of video outputs. Are they always on?
Yes. The analog component, HDMI, and HD-SDI outputs will always display the currently configured Video Output Format (which is 1080i by default). The composite video output will always display a Standard-Definition mixdown of the HD output. No configuration necessary.
