Welcome to the Alcorn McBride DVM2! ------------------------------------------------------- OS UPDATE: If you are not doing an operating system upgrade skip this section: 1. Connect your computer to the DVM2 via the Ethernet port, as described in the user's manual. 2. Using an FTP client, transfer os.new to the root directory of the DVM2 3. Reboot the DVM2 by turning off the power switch, waiting five seconds, and then turning the unit back on. 4. The yellow LED will blink twice to confirm that the new OS has been loaded, checksummed, and run. The new OS is then copied into the OS directory as os.bin, and the old OS is renamed os.old. ------------------------------------------------------- Your DVM2 contains the following files: readme .txt - This file manual .pdf - DVM2 User's Manual (Adobe Acrobat PDF Version) vid00001.mpg - 30 second National Geographic spot (10Mbits/s) vid00002.mpg - Full field red with 2 kHz tone vid00004.mpg - Full field green with 4 kHz tone vid00008.mpg - Full field blue with 8 kHz tone vid01001.mpg - SMPTE color bars with 1 kHz tone vid01002.mpg - Projector Registration Pattern Videos 1, 2, 4, and 8 are primarily for factory testing. You may delete or rename any of these files as you wish. Videos 1001 and 1002 are common video test patterns. Known Issues as of this release: - In command files, the order of the 'C' (copy) and 'O' (overwrite) commands is important. Until this problem is fixed, always use these commands in the order O, C. Revision History: 1.08 -Now serial AR commands are also in playlist. Format: A0, A1,A2,A3,A4,A5 (lowercase works too) -Also fixed eventual crash if customer sends ID request via Ethernet. 1.07 -Uninterruptible playlists would ignore parallel RESUME and serial PLAY/LOOP commands after being paused or stilled during an uninterruptible file. This has now been fixed. 1.06 -Fixed Ack problem introduced in 1.05 1.05 -Fixed bug created in 0.90 that caused Uninterruptible playlists to be Interruptible. 1.04b -added support for Customizable Pioneer Ack Byte. Now no longer has to be R. Command is nCP, where n is an ASCII character. For example, if you send ZCP, the DVM2 will send Z when it is acking a Pioneer command. Useful for determining which unit has responded in a big group of networked DVM2's. 1.03b -added changes to stabalize MIDI control. 1.02b (current version of os and readme.txt) - Resolved cause of timing problem that 1.01 attempted to alleviate. Mutexes and semaphores not getting freed when a new command was receieved at the tail end of a clip, resulting in those commands getting missed and possibly even locking up the box. 1.01 - Delayed contact closure inputs when DVM2 is at the very very end of a file. This helps reliablity with certain videos. 1.00 -UDP commands sent from a Gigabit ethernet card were being intermittenly ignored by DVM2. Now fixed. .99 -Made os compatible with RevD,E,&F hardware. -Made queries like ?v,?c,?p more responsive during transitions from file to file in a playlist -Fixed bug where queries right at the transition point caused a file to be skipped. .98 -Updated UDP interface with XX, ?V,?C,?P and made response mechanism a little more robust. It will now not send an error response if it received a message with a different id. -Added completion ack to Sony LDP and Sony 9pin protocols .97 -Changed settings that chopped off first 14 pixels on left side PAL and 4 pixels on left side of NTSC video in non-synced operation. -During playlist playback, DVM2 now resports correct chapter number during playback rather than the playlist number, -Added automated broadcast to Terminal Mode. When unit is in Terminal Mode (serial port setting) it now broadcasts unit information every 5seconds. -When in Terminal Mode, DVM2's Serial Port Setup page displayed "MIDI" instead of "Terminal" in Protocol drop down menu. .96 -Added playlist Audio Mute and Audio UnMute commands. Added tilde (~) and underscore (_) as playlist commands for unmuting and muting audio respectively. .95 -Fixed scheduler feature. It does not run properly in .93. -Unit now shows the amount of freespace on the drive in serial Pioneer "LS" command and FTP LS and DIR commands. .94 beta -Added Serial "Play Next" command - PN, where is a valid file number 0-99999. This command causes the selected file to be "queued" for playback at the completion of the current activity. If a file is currently playing, the queued transition to the selected file will be seamless. If a file is currently looping, the transition will occur at the next loop point. -Added Serial "Loop Next" command - PN, where is a valid file number 0-99999. This command causes the selected file to be "queued" for looping playback at the completion of the current activity. If a file is currently playing, the queued transition to the selected file will be seamless. If a file is currently looping, the transition will occur at the next loop point. -Added Playlist Loop(and Complete) command, "LC". This command works just like the Loop command, "L", and causes the file number following the command to loop. The 'C' indicates that when a Serial Play or a Parallel Resume is issued, the file will complete the current iteration of the loop before transition to the next item in the playlist instead of transitioning immediately. .93 -Added parallel port debounce. 22frames .92 -Improved parallel port response to rapidly repeated inputs, while selecting a playlist with uninterruptibles in it. .91 -Made pressing of RESUME contact closure during bootup NOT turn autoexecution of playlists off. .90 -Changed playlist waits in an uninterruptible playlist to be interruptible. This keeps unit from appearing to lock up, and makes script writing a little easier. .89 -Added Transport Controls to web interface; accessible from main page. This is a beta test. If customers don't like it, it will be removed. -Added delete command to serial port; syntax: "FileToDelete"DL -Added rename command to serial port; syntax: "OldFileName""NewFileName"RN -FTP uploads now put the correct time and date stamp according to the clock on the unit.-used to be March 28,1988 -FTP uploads now put accurate file size on uploaded file, if is overwriting an existing file. -FTP uploads and downloads stop file playback, rather than just a login as before. -More intelligently determines whether to replace end of stream marker 00 00 01 09 with 00 00 01 07 for seamless transitions .88 -Scheduler is no longer limited to 1 week's worth of scheduled playback. A new schedule can now be loaded from the current schedule, allowing unlimited weeks of designed programming. .87 -Solved a problem when a scheduled file and a looping autoexec looping playlist were both on the unit. Upon powerup the autoexec playlist would play once and not loop. .86 This version has the REBOOT command added to the FTP client. The user must use REBOOT instead of QUIT at the end of the script. REBOOT causes the unit to logout of the session and reboot itself. .85 Please note many of the new features are discussed in a forthcoming addendum "DVM2 Manual Addendum C 06aug01.pdf" -Fixed YUV mode upon bootup. It was going back to RGB mode after a reboot. -DHCP support: Just change your ini file and reboot. Issue "IP" to learn the new IP address. -Pioneer command: "LS" does a directory listing of the root directory -Pioneer-command: "XX" to Reboot (hardware upgrade may be necessary) -Pioneer-command: "DHCPIP" puts the DVM2 in DHCP mode and it attempts to automatically get an IP address. -Web page support: AC3/MPEG2 Audio mode now switchable from web interface -Web page support: DHCP On/Off drop down menu. -Web page support: Remotely Reboot by pressing a web button on the Maintenance page (hardware upgrade may be necessary) -Scheduler support: Check for a CD and update the contents of the directory at a certain time of the week. (DVM2/D version only) -Scheduler support: Turn on an FTP client and execute a script to download new content at a certain time of the week. -Scheduler support: Reboot the DVM2 at a certain time of the week (hardware upgrade may be necessary) .81 - ALL AC3 (Dolby Digital) Customers! You must read the Known Issues section below as there are very important changes to the way the DVM2 treats program streams with AC3 audio. - Subnet Mask now editable from web page and from serial interface, like IP and gateway addresses. - AC3 auto detection completely removed. Now this is a sticky setting in the .ini file, that can be changed with serial commands at the moment. Later it will be added to the web page settings and UDP. Do an ANDED search for AC3 INI in the Alcorn McBride Knowledge Base for complete details and important instructions. - Mode changes in .ini file now added, so that cutomers can easily change their settings from standard mode to Audio Master mode or a special service release mode for this customers with A/V sync or mutli-unit sync problems. If you think you need this, call tech support for assistance before attempting any mode changes with Audio Master Mode or StreamType values in ini file. The standard mode is AudioMasterMode is 0 and StreamType is 40. If your .ini file does not contain these entries, then they use the defaults.
