I hesitated writing a holiday blog post. It seems as if the typical “Happy Holidays from us to you” (although pleasant and sincere) seems a bit overdone to me. So my holiday greetings come with a thought in mind: have it your way. Use this holiday season to do whatever it is that is the most important to you. For me, it’s all about my children…relishing what very well may be my last “Santa” year with our young believers. I also have a Mom who likes to take over the holidays and do “mom” things. A chance for me to put my feet up! Think a moment…what’s your holiday thing?
For others in our office it’s the hustle and bustle of running from city to city. Another has gone hiking and camping. There are also those who use holiday time to wrap up a year and prepare for a new one. Cleaning out our office (piles of paper anyone?) or that dreaded 2000 file inbox! Dare I use the word organize? Some say the holidays are just like any other time of year filled with the same old same old. When you get right down to it, they have a point. Unless you do something different there is nothing different about it.
I’ll ask again…what’s your holiday thing? It doesn’t have to be the mainstream answer. If you can’t answer that immediately, you are missing out. So this is my holiday wish for you – Find your “thing,” do it, and have a happy holiday your way!
