WinScript Live Releases: What’s New in Versions 6.16 & 6.17

Software Releases

Two WinScript Live Releases in six weeks. We didn’t sleep either. Here are some of the highlights from 6.16 and 6.17: new sequencing events that let your show check its own status, front-panel storage wipes so you can stop lugging a laptop everywhere (your back will thank you), a native macOS build that runs the way it should, faster transfers in every direction, and a 2GB+ file fix that’s been a long time coming.

– Two new events available for all products: Get Seq Status (returns the current state of any sequence) and Get Seq End Time (returns the timecode of the last frame of a timed sequence)

– BX-4KU: Fade on video play commands for clean transitions, no workaround required

– Warp and Blend: New perspective warp option for non-planar geometry correction

– BinloopX: Update firmware on individual modules from the Connection Manager — pick the modules, update those, the rest of the system doesn’t need to know about it

– Script transfer from WinScript Live is faster

– Firmware transfer to BinloopX is faster

– Live Log: Each message now gets its own line (previously, simultaneous messages could get merged or truncated), plus a fixed-width font option

– Live Mode: Loop toggle buttons replaced with dedicated Play and Loop buttons that behave consistently regardless of state

– ShowTouch: Editor dialog consistency pass; event parameter tooltips now filter to match the selected event variation

– Files larger than 2GB now play correctly on BinloopX, RidePlayer, and RidePlayerX.

– Slow script load introduced in 6.15.0 is resolved

– Mute and unmute buttons in the Playback Dashboard work again

– Duplicate media play commands no longer sent when scrubbing nested sequences (all products)

– Initial values of timecode variables now applied correctly (all products)

– BinloopX: Slot error device variables now assigned to the correct module

– RidePlayerX: Pulse Catch detects input triggers shorter than one frame in duration. Fleeting discrete triggers that used to get dropped are now caught.

– BinloopX, RidePlayerX, V4X, V16X: Erase SD card and internal storage directly from the front panel menu. No laptop. One fewer thing to haul to the job.

– WinScript Live on macOS: Now a universal binary, native on both Intel and Apple silicon. No Rosetta required.

– BX-4KU: Concurrent file transfers no longer fail when moving eight or more files at once

– ShowTouch: Fixed text centering with variables; fixed resource associations with variable arrays

– WinScript Live: Device references no longer disappear from autocomplete dropdowns

If your installation is running fine, our advice is the same as always: leave it alone. We make hardware that runs for decades. We’d like your software to do the same. But if something here solves a problem you’ve been dealing with, or you’re commissioning a new install, the latest is ready and waiting. And if anything comes up, give support a call. They love a good puzzle.
